Two men from Colorado have been ordered to pay $16,000 in restitution to the Wyoming Department of Transportation for stealing pieces of Wyoming snow fences.
Tres Steinhoff and Billy Cobb were sentenced to pay the $16,000 and ordered five years of supervised probation.
According to the Laramie Boomerang, Steinhoff said in district court Monday in Laramie that he was, “ashamed” of his actions and the fact that he could have put motorists in more danger by making snow fences less effective.
The wood was stolen from U.S. 287 near Tie Siding in Albany County. The two men then sold the wood to a Fort Collins manufacturer in 2017.
