Shoshoni trailed the Lady Chiefs 21-19 early in the third period. Wyoming Indian was out of sync with sophomore point guard Paisley Blackburn sidelined with an injury. As is often the nature of Wyoming Indian basketball, the Lady Chiefs rallied on a 20-0 run to blow the game open 41-19.
Wyoming Indian won the non-conference tilt 47-24.
It was a non-conference game, so the shot clock was used. It will be a regular feature of all Wyoming High School basketball games next season.
Repeated turnovers off forced passes and simply wild passes over the head or wide of the intended player slowed play throughout the opening half. The two teams had more turnovers than points when they entered the halftime locker room.
Jayden Headley led the Wyoming Indian charge with nine points in the third period, three close-range post shots, and three free throws. She led the team with 13 points.
Taya Dixey was cold in the first two periods, but she rained in three 3-pointers in the final minutes of the third and in the fourth quarter to finish with a dozen.
Shoshoni was equally as cold shooting the ball and had a 35 percent performance at the line, hitting just seven of 20 free throws.
Brenna Metzler led the Lady Blue with eight points, including a 3-point shot.
Wyoming Indian travels to Rocky Mountain Saturday while Shoshoni makes the long trek to Kemmerer on Friday before hosting Big Piney Saturday afternoon in a three-game weekend.
