Yellowstone National Park recorded more than 4.1 million visitors in 2018. The busiest year was in 2016 with over 4.2 million guests.
The park uses an automated counter that records traffic and the number of guests per vehicle each year.
Visitation is also down from 2017 slightly, at about 1,500 fewer travelers. Most of the park’s visits are recorded during summer months and drops off significantly in November when most park entrances close for the season.
