(Lander, WY) – The Super Bowl of shooting sports returns to Lander this September for the 82nd running of the legendary One-Shot Antelope Hunt.
Hosted by Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon, this one-of-a-kind event, often featuring teams composed of prominent figures, expert marksmen, and conservation leaders, has drawn astronauts, actors, generals, politicians, and some of the finest marksmen in the country. But what makes it truly unique is simple—and unforgiving: one hunter, one shot.
The Lander One-Shot Antelope Hunt Committee proudly announces the 2026 hunt, set for Sept. 16–19. Teams of three will once again test their skill under the event’s famous “one-shot” rule—no second chances. It’s a format that demands precision, discipline, and respect for the game.
More than just a competition, the Hunt stands as a powerful statement about ethical hunting and conservation. Proceeds from the event directly support the Water for Wildlife Foundation projects and critical habitat improvements across Wyoming and the West, and the event was recently presented with the prestigious Boone and Crockett Club’s Conservation and Stewardship Award for 2026. The Boone and Crockett Club was founded by Theodore Roosevelt in 1887 and promotes guardianship and visionary management of big game and wildlife in North America. This award is given annually to the one organization that best exemplifies excellence in natural resource conservation and stewardship throughout North America, and this year it recognized the Water for Wildlife Foundation’s 50-year history of conservation work.

The Lander One-Shot Antelope Hunt has a storied history that began in 1940 and has occurred every year since, except during WWII (1942-1945) and during COVID in 2020.
Beyond the competition, the event is known for its camaraderie, western tradition, and deep Wyoming roots.
