A 23-year-old Lander man, Joshua Hendrickson, has died after an attempted skateboard stunt near Lander’s North Park.
EMS, The Lander Police Department, and Wyoming Highway Patrol all responded to the accident Sunday at 3:38 p.m. on Jefferson Street where according to initial reports, Hendrickson was allegedly run over by a jeep while skateboarding.
According to the preliminary report from the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Hendrickson was holding onto the door of the jeep while skateboarding alongside it. Hendrickson appears to have lost control, falling off of his skateboard. Initial reports indicate that he then became caught underneath the vehicle and was dragged for a short distance before the vehicle ran him over.
The Lander Police Department says they are continuing to investigate the situation and no official cause of death has been declared.
KGAB-AM is reporting that Hendrickson was life-flighted to Casper from SageWest Lander where he died from his injuries.
While Lander Middle School was not in session on the day of the incident, many Lander students received notes Monday for those that may have witnessed the incident at North Park. Counseling services are available through schools for any student that may need one.
