The Lander Valley High School Commons Room was busy with Lander Veterans on March 9, 2019 when 30 Veterans from the various branches received hand-stitched quilts of Valor from Sheep Camp Quilters.
This is the First Lander Quilts of Valor Ceremony. Riverton has been holding them in November since 2007.
Since this date there has been 900 quilts awarded in Fremont County. Quilts of Valor came into existence in 2003, with the first quilt being awarded to a Veteran who was in the Walter Reed Memorial Hospital. The goal of Quilts of Valor is to award a quilt to Every Veteran.
