(Arlington, WY) – Interstate 80 westbound was closed near the community of Arlington Tuesday late afternoon for multiple crashes.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol released details late Tuesday after the interstate was re-opened. Most of the wrecks took place within a two-mile stretch between mile post 274 and 273.
Troopers found two large crashes and four smaller ones when arriving on scene shortly after 3:00 p.m. One of the crashes involved 16 vehicles and the other larger one with 7 vehicles. The four smaller crashes involved two vehicles a piece. In total, 40 vehicles were involved in the series of accidents.
WHP announced that three people were transported to a hospital for treatment. All of the injuries were described as minor.
Road conditions were listed as slick with gusty winds at the time of the wrecks. The Wyoming Highway Patrol reminded motorists to, “never drive faster than conditions allow and be prepared for sudden changes in weather and visibility.”
