On March 3, 2019, a fatal crash occurred at milepost 37 on Wyoming 59 north of Bill, Wyoming. Around 4:49 p.m., Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to the area for a two-vehicle collision.
A 2000 Ford Taurus was traveling south on Wyoming 59 when the vehicle entered the northbound lane. A driver in a northbound 2015 Dodge Ram attempted to take evasive action to avoid the Ford. The Ford and Dodge collided head-on.
The driver of the Ford has been identified as 41-year-old Rock Springs, Wyoming resident Jesse Ray Wagner. Wagner was not wearing his seatbelt and succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the Dodge has been identified as 76-year-old Glendo, Wyoming resident William Krieger Neuharth. Neuharth was wearing his seatbelt but transported to the Memorial Hospital of Converse County for injuries he sustained in the crash.
Driver fatigue on the part of Wagner is being investigated as a contributing factor.
This is the 21st fatality on Wyoming’s highways in 2019 compared to 11 in 2018, 10 in 2017, and 8 in 2016 to date.
