The local nonprofit abortion advocacy organization Chelsea’s Fund will host the first-ever Wyoming Reproductive Freedom Summit this weekend at the Lander Community and Convention Center, 950 Buena Vista Drive in Lander.
“With our reproductive freedoms and health care at greater risk now than in half a century, Wyoming supporters of reproductive freedom need more than ever to connect, learn from each other, be inspired and mobilize,” the event description states. “Join us to build power and community for reproductive freedom!”
Doors to the summit will open at 11 a.m., and the event will begin at noon, featuring:
-an abortion provider panel discussing their experiences and challenges
-a presentation from legislators on abortion in the Wyoming Legislature
-a religious/spiritual framework that supports abortion care
-patient perspectives
-a Mobilizing our Majority Friendbanking workshop
-a keynote address from Jessica Valenti
Organizers said the following groups will also be present at the event to provide information:
–Pro-Choice Wyoming
-Chelsea’s Fund
–Wyoming Health Council
–Wyoming Rising
-Wyoming United for Freedom
–Wind River Pride
Attendees are asked to bring a form of photo identification in order to accommodate the security measures that will be in place for the event.
“We want this to be comfortable and secure for all,” organizers said. “Join Wyoming supporters of reproductive freedom for connection, education and inspiration!”
Event registration costs $10.
Admission is free for anyone under age 20, but they should still register for the event.
