(Riverton, WY) – The Meals on Wheels program in Riverton is currently at a crossroads. Like many rural programs, we’re facing a shortage of volunteers and bracing for another round of federal funding cuts. Without immediate community support, we will soon have to make difficult choices, including reducing routes or discontinuing services altogether.
For many of our local seniors, Meals on Wheels is not just about receiving a warm meal—it’s about maintaining independence, staying in their homes, and having a regular human connection. For some, the person delivering that meal may be the only visitor they have all day.
We know this community cares about its elders and other homebound people. We’ve seen it time and again. However, we now need that care to turn into action.
We’re calling on individuals, churches, civic groups, and businesses to help us meet this urgent need. Can you spare an hour a week to deliver meals? Can you sign up with a friend or rotate drivers from your workplace or organization?
Meals on Wheels is a lifeline. But it cannot run on hope alone.
