The Fremont County Sheriff’s Department has released a statement with a few additional details about the Tuesday morning fatal accident on Smith Road in Riverton.
At 7:02 a.m. Tuesday, Sheriff’s received a call that a vehicle has crashed through a fence and into a power pole on Smith Road. It was later confirmed that the sole occupant of the vehicle had died.
The Sheriff’s Department release indicates that speed and alcohol are being investigated as possible factors in the accident. It also identifies the vehicle as a 2002 Oldsmobile SUV.
Smith Road was closed to traffic for roughly 2 hours Tuesday, and some area residents lost power. Most for only a few seconds, but a few reported losing it for “several hours.”
