(Dubois, WY) – All Area, Road, and Trail Closures associated with the Pack Trail Fire have been lifted. This does not mean the area is safe, but rather the need for the emergency closure due to active fire and firefighting resources in the area has passed. Numerous hazards remain, so caution is advised.
As of 6am today (Monday, November 4, 2024) the Pack Trail Fire Area, Road, and Trail Closure has been lifted. Resources are still working in the area so please be aware that one may experience short term delays when travelling through the area.
We would like to thank the public for their patience and support throughout the changing fire closures for the Fish Creek and Pack Trail Fires. These closures were a vital component in keeping the public safe in a sometimes rapidly changing landscape, and firefighting personnel safe and able to focus on their duties.
While the fire is not completely out, forest users are permitted throughout the fire footprint and surrounding roads and trails. Burned areas are susceptible to a variety of hazards such as erosion and roads that are more prone to shifting, along with fire weakened trees. Trees the remain standing but were exposed to ground fire can be easily blown over due to burned out roots or soil that no longer has vegetation holding it in place.
