(Laramie, WY) – The Wyoming Department of Transportation saw multiple crashes and slick, snow-covered roadways across Interstate 80 overnight March 31st into April Fool’s Day.
As of 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Rawlins to Laramie eastbound 80 remains closed due to crashes. WYDOT estimates that stretch will re-open between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. April 1st. Westbound is open but slick, with an extreme blow-over risk listed due to high winds.
Truck driver Alice Thompson reported to the Wyoming Road and Weather Conditions Reports Updates Facebook group that she and many motorists were at a standstill near Elk Mountain, at mile post 244 around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Angie Stokes Fitch posted to the same online group a video of a stretch of Interstate 80 near the Wyoming/Utah border Tuesday morning.
