(Fremont County, WY) – A one-vehicle rollover occurring on April 4 resulted in one death, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol’s recently posted preliminary report.
42-year-old Wyoming man Jeffrey Montez has been identified as the deceased.
The report states the crash occurred around 6:37 AM on WY 789 at milepost 92.5, near Hudson.
The report narrative informs that Montez’s van was northbound when it lost control on the snowy roadway.
The van began rotating clockwise and exited the roadway to the right, when it then entered the borrow ditch and began a driver’s side-leading rollover, rolling approximately two times before coming to rest on its wheels, facing southbound.
The road and weather conditions listed in the report state that it was snowing when the crash occurred, that the roads were snowy/slushy, and that Montez was not wearing a seatbelt.
Speed was listed as a possible contributing factor.
There have been 18 fatalities reported on Wyoming’s roads in 2025.
