Each week, staff at Arapaho Charter High School nominate a student who has shown outstanding behavior toward their peers and in their academics. At the end of the year, County 10 will award a $500 scholarship to one of the nominated students! Click here to view all nominated students.
Desirae Oldman was nominated as the Arapaho Charter High School student of the week by ACHS Staff.
Desirae Oldman is being celebrated as the Arapaho Charter High School Student of the Week!
A sophomore at ACHS, Desirae is the daughter of Gary Oldman and Deanna Wanstal. She is being recognized as an achiever in the classroom and a calm presence in the student environment. “Desirae has put a lot of thought and effort into her work. She is a kind, respectful, and patient student. She puts great dedication toward learning Hinono’eitiit” (Arapaho Language), writes a nominating teacher. Indeed, her commitment to her studies has set her up nicely for graduating on time or even early should she choose. Another teacher states “Desi always has a kind smile on her face and treats the people around her with respect and politeness.” No wonder we call her an asset to the student body at ACHS!
In her high school years Desi has played Basketball and run Cross Country. This year she is working a part-time job after school and often clocks 20 or more hours each week. She also helps with the District’s monthly Food Distribution program and participates in school activities when they are offered. When not at school or work, Desi enjoys hanging out with her family, playing with her dogs outdoors, and driving. After graduating she eventually hopes to have a career as a Veterinarian, and is considering enlisting in the Army as a means to that end. Congratulations, Desirae – well deserved!
