It was a huge opening season wrestling tournament at Cody over the weekend with 18 teams from Wyoming and Montana filling the Bronc mats. Lockwood and Hardin, Montana finished in the top two positions, but the Shoshoni girls fared well in finishing fourth with 89 points.
Individually there were eight Fremont County wrestlers that reached the finals with two champions.
At 115 pounds, Sawyer Arnhold won gold with an entertaining, high scoring 17-10 decision in the championship match over Elesah Horsley of Powell.
Lander’s Andie Gibson won at 145 pounds defeating Carmelia Horn of Hardin 6-2 in the championship match.
Second place finishers were Hailee Cooper of Riverton at 100 pounds, Lander’s Jordan Nielsen at 130, Brueklyn Trumpler of Shoshoni at 140, Harlie Velarde of Lander at 170, Remington Prince of Shoshoni at 190 and Wind River’s Juana Hines at 235.
