As expected, the Lady Braves of Star Valley dominated the Girls State Wrestling Championship over the weekend, amassing 167.5 points to 110.5 for distant runner-up Green River.
Lander placed two girls, and Riverton three. Wind River had a medalist, and Shoshoni had the highest placed wrestler in sophomore Peyton Arnhold, who was second at 105 pounds, with teammate Madi Ramage sixth at 170.
Arnhold trailed her nemesis, Rylin Plant of Rock Springs, on points and narrowly escaped the pin, but the official slapped the mat with one second remaining.
Haillee Cooper was fourth at 100 pounds, as was teammate Autumn Osborne at 135. Aleah Marquez was third at 235 for the Lady Wolverines.
Lander’s Elizabeth Gribowskas was third at 145 and Harlie Velarde third at 170.
Wind River’s Aspen Beutler was sixth at 115.
