Arts in Action Wyoming President Cameron Fehring was a guest this week on the County 10 Podcast and shared several details about new community holiday events.
Fehring explained, “Last year I noticed there were all kinds of wonderful things happening around the holidays, but there was very little cohesion. It was 3 or 4 things a day, there were 13 appearances of Santa. Why not create a cohesive and month-long festival that’s unlike anything in the state, or surrounding states.”
Cameron said that he was inspired by seeing how many Riverton residents turned out to the Riverton Parks Committee’s tree lighting ceremony in 2018. He mentioned that the event was planned with less than two week’s notice and it still had a very large attendance.
A Christmas show at Central Wyoming College, plans for the Winter Arts Fair, and a Main Street lighting ceremony are a few bits and pieces to the overall master plan.
Fehring was the mastermind behind the painted piano project, in which six pianos were decorated and placed around public locations in Lander and Riverton. He also helped coordinate this year’s Rendezvous In The Park event in Riverton.
