(Atlantic City, WY) – Having completely sold out over a year ago, the award-winning book “Atlantic City, Wyoming: Voices From a Powerful Place” is available for the first time in both digital as well as print-on-demand formats.
In 2017, the Atlantic City Historical Society first published the book to celebrate the 150th anniversary of this unique Wyoming gold mining town. All 1,100 copies sold out — almost a quarter of them during the first night.
The book includes tales from more than 50 residents, each with a unique view of Atlantic City life. Roger Carpenter, graphic designer from Laramie, designed the 280-page “picture book” that includes historic photographs and color contemporary scenes.
Local writer and businessman, Robert Townsend, and a team of board members edited the work. Not simply a local history book, it is a “work of art as well as of history,” according to Phil Roberts, Professor of History Emeritus, University of Wyoming. “Atlantic City is a microcosm of Wyoming because of its boom and busts, its community projects, and its location in an area of both natural beauty and mineral/ranching wealth…. The quality graphics, lively and clear writing, and interesting photographs make this work a model for a history of any community.”
In 2018, the book took first place at the Wyoming State Historical Society in the non-fiction category.
The book can be purchased on Amazon or at the following book outlets around the world: Barnes and Noble, Walmart, Hudson Booksellers, Waterstones, Readings, Booktopia, Park Roads Books, and The Nile.
