There is a new single game rushing leader at Lander Valley High School after junior Brayden Baker rushed for 303 yards on just 16 carries last Friday against Rawlins.
The 5-10, 180-pound junior broke the previous mark of 260 yards shared by George Bozanic and Jacob Muth.
Baker scored four touchdowns against the Outlaws including a 65-yard breakaway on the first play of the game. He had 256 yards on the ground by the half.
Bozanic set the record in Lander’s unbeaten 1948 season against Powell in a 40-13 Tiger win. Muth was more recent, tying the mark against Lyman 20 years ago in a 55-8 blowout over the Eagles on September 24, 2004.
Baker’s previous best this season came in a win over Evanston where he gained 125 yards on 15 carries.
Baker is also in the top three defensively for the Tigers with Landon Jones and Parker Burton.
In setting the mark, Brayden bumped his father, Eric, one notch down the all-time list of Tiger single game rushing leaders.
Eric had 216 yards, also against Rawlins in a 28-26 loss to the Outlaws in the Class 3A playoffs. He moved from sixth all-time, to seventh after his son’s stellar performance last Friday.
Baker plays catcher for the Riverton American Legion Raiders in the summer and has several colleges interested in him as a baseball player.
The Tigers have their final regular season home game this Friday against Buffalo. A win sends them to the playoffs.
