The Friends of the Fremont County Fair is a nonprofit organization committed to enhancing the fair experience for exhibitors, attendees, and the community as a whole. Their bylaws outline their mission, “The purpose of the organization is to maintain an association of persons interested in promoting, maintaining, and improving the Fremont County Fair and the fairgrounds. The Friends of Fair provide volunteer service and direct financial assistance which would benefit the fair or fairgrounds.”
As the Fremont County Fair is a Fremont County funded organization, budget constraints and and other publicly funded issues can impact the operations from year to year. That’s where this non-profit plays a vital part in maintaining the consistency and support for the fair’s endeavors.
By providing both volunteer support and financial assistance, the Friends of the Fair play a crucial role in making the fair a premier event in the region. Membership in the organization is open to everyone, with both annual and lifetime options available.

Enhancing the Experience
The Friends of the Fair have a long history of making a positive impact on the Fremont County Fair. Their contributions have touched every aspect of the event, from the grounds to the awards. Here’s a glimpse at some of their accomplishments over the last year:
- Grounds Improvements: Campground electrical upgrades, tables and chairs, sound system upgrades, grass seeding, shade material for show areas
- Building and Barn Improvements: Bath house stalls, wash rack shade awning, upgrades to Fur and Feathers barn, stage curtains in Heritage Hall, Little Wind Center floor replacement, painting and flooring in classroom of Fremont Center, bathroom remodel
- Awards and Prizes: Buckles for Round Robin contests, banners, photo backdrops, cash prizes
- Scholarships: Seven scholarships were awarded last year to Fremont County seniors, five were awarded the previous year
In addition to the work the group does to support the Fremont County Fair, the Friends of Fair hosts the Fremont County Spring Spectacular. This is a jackpot show in the spring to give youth exhibitors another chance to show their animals locally. They also host the jackpot shows each evening during fair week. They also pay for a professional photographer to be on hand during all fair activities during the week. The photo galleries are available free of charge on the group’s facebook page.
Fundraising efforts the Friends of Fair include their annual Barn Bash as well as the calcuttas at the jackpot shows. All proceeds from their fundraising efforts go
back into the county fair through awards and prizes to youth, improvements or scholarships.
