(Fremont County, WY) – Fort Washakie man Aaron Bigknife was sentenced to 46 months imprisonment and three years of supervised release at his sentencing hearing held today, August 6, before the Honorable Judge Alan B. Johnson.
Bigknife was originally charged with and pled “not guilty” to assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to do bodily harm, as well as assault resulting in serious bodily injury, and the May jury trial was set.
Bigknife faced these charges after an incident that occurred on August 27, 2023 where he reportedly struck a female victim in the head with a golf-club, which resulted in a concussion and lacerations to her face.
Bigknife later changed his plea to “guilty” for Count 2 of the charges (assault resulting in serious bodily injury), as per stipulations made in the non-public plea agreement filed on April 26.
In addition to the prison time and supervised release, Bigknife was also ordered to pay a $100 special assessment fee.
