According to the Casper Star-Tribune, a bill will be proposed into the Wyoming Legislature that is seeking to protect injured Wyoming workers from expensive air EMS charges.
Gillette Republican Rep. Eric Barlow is proposing the new legislation which would be offered through the Joint Labor, Health and Social Services Committee would be limited to state workers’ compensation claims.
The proposal suggests that air ambulance companies could either accept roughly double the Medicare rate from the state, or they can accept a smaller amount and later bill the injured worker for the remaining sum, otherwise known as balanced billing.
Barlow said another bill was also being drafted to expand similar protections for all Wyoming residents, not just those injured while working.
