(Riverton, WY) – The Boys & Girls Club of Riverton is excited to announce a grand opening event on Thursday, October 10th, at 5:30 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Riverton, located at 510 N. 1st Street.
The Club opened its doors at the new Ashgrove location in August, following the purchase of the building over the summer.
The event is free and open to the public and will include refreshments, a short program, and tours of the facility.
The Club in Riverton first opened in 2021, operating out of Rendezvous Elementary School. With the move to the old Ashgrove School, the Club has been able to expand its program offerings by providing dedicated spaces such as a science room, a tween area, a cafeteria for snacks and meals, and a gym.
The Boys & Girls Club has maintained a strong partnership with Fremont County School District #25, which has been instrumental in the Club’s success and growth.
Since opening, the Club has served 250 members annually, offering programs such as Power Hour for academic support, SMART Moves for healthy lifestyles, and Be Somebody: Cowboy Ethics for leadership development. These programs have led to positive outcomes in academic achievement, physical well-being, and leadership skills, making the Club a vital resource for youth in the community.
Kip Post, who serves on the Board of Directors for the Boys & Girls Club of Central Wyoming Foundation and has been a vital advocate for the Riverton Club, emphasized the importance of this resource: “Our kids in Riverton and the surrounding areas need a safe, supportive place where they can grow, learn, and thrive. Now that the Club has a permanent location, it can provide that space and give kids opportunities they might not otherwise have. It’s not just about after-school care; it’s about giving our youth the tools they need to succeed in life.”
