All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
(Riverton, WY) – The preliminary hearing for 31-year-old Riverton man and first-degree murder suspect John Goodman was held on November 12 at the Riverton Circuit Court.
The hearing was overseen by the Honorable Judge Daniel Stebner, with the State represented by Micah Wyatt, and Valerie Schoneberger acting as Defense.
Probable cause was found/presented at the hearing, and the case now heads to the District Court in Lander. An arraignment hearing has been scheduled for December 4.
Goodman was charged with first-degree murder after human remains were discovered on Rendezvous Road in March of 2023, and the ensuing investigation, including interview testimony and DNA collected at the scene, tied him to the crime. In Wyoming, a murder in the first degree charge carries a maximum sentence of “imprisonment of death, life imprisonment without parole, or life imprisonment.”
As stated above, Goodman’s arraignment hearing is scheduled to take place at Lander’s District Court on December 4.
