Judy Catchpole served as Wyoming’s State Superintendent of Public Instruction from 1995 through 2002. She served because she wanted the best for kids, and she understood the importance of public education in our great state. We saw firsthand the impact she had on students, schools, and education across Wyoming.
We support and endorse Steve Harshman to be Wyoming’s next Superintendent of Public Instruction. His knowledge, experience, local-control advocacy, and understanding of the needs of students set Steve apart. We believe he will make the right decisions that impact our local communities and the educational future of our youth.
Steve has an immense understanding of both the state legislature and of public education. As Speaker of the House, he demonstrated leadership, experience, and professionalism. Steve understands how state government works and has a proven record of tackling complex issues. Wyoming faces significant challenges, and we need leaders who know how to build consensus, make thoughtful decisions, and deliver practical results. Steve will do just that.
Wyoming’s communities are diverse, and decisions are often best made by the people who know their own schools and neighborhoods best. Throughout his career, Steve has been an advocate for local control and decision making. We believe he will do the same as Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Finally, we believe strong public schools are essential for Wyoming families. Public education helps prepare the next generation, strengthens our workforce and economy, and helps keep our communities vibrant and engaged. Supporting our schools and extracurricular activities is an investment in Wyoming’s future, and Steve is a leader who recognizes the importance of this investment.
