RIVERTON, Wyo. — Central Wyoming College will host the Independent Cattlemen of Wyoming’s 20th All Members Meeting and Convention Friday, Oct. 9, and Saturday, Oct. 10, bringing cattle producers, agricultural leaders and speakers from Wyoming and across the country to the Central Wyoming College campus in Riverton.
The two-day convention will be held in Room 100 of CWC’s Health and Science Center and will feature discussions on cattle ranching, private property rights, grazing, land use and other issues affecting Wyoming’s agricultural industry.
“Agriculture and ranching are fundamental to Wyoming’s communities, economy and way of life, and Central Wyoming College is proud to provide a place where producers and industry leaders can come together,” says CWC President Brad Tyndall. “Hosting this convention also complements the work happening through our Rustler Ag & Equine programs, where we are preparing students to become the next generation of leaders in Wyoming agriculture.”
The convention begins at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, with remarks from ICOW President Hugh Turk and a welcome from Tyndall. Scheduled speakers during the two-day event include Wyoming congressional candidate Chuck Gray; U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman; Taylor Haynes, ICOW District 2 director; Ammon Blair, Omni Intelligence consultant and senior fellow at the Texas Public Policy Foundation; Dave Duquette, Western Justice documentary producer; Bill Bullard, CEO of R-CALF USA; Shad Sullivan, R-CALF USA chair; and Dr. Roel Lopez of Texas A&M University.
Friday’s program also includes the ICOW president’s report, board of directors and all-members business meeting and supper at CWC. Saturday’s sessions begin at 8 a.m. and continue through 4 p.m.
Central Wyoming College’s commitment to Wyoming agriculture extends beyond hosting the convention. The college’s Rustler Ag & Equine Complex provides hands-on education and training in livestock, equine studies, meat science, regenerative agriculture and other areas important to Wyoming’s agricultural economy.
“Having cattle producers and agricultural leaders from across Wyoming on our campus gives us another opportunity to connect education directly with the people working in the industry,” says Keith Duren, CWC Assistant Dean of Agriculture & Equine. “Our students benefit tremendously from those relationships, and events like this strengthen the connection between CWC, Wyoming’s producers and the future of agriculture in our state.”
Registration for the convention begins at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, and at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10. The event will be held in the Health and Science Center, Room 100, on the Central Wyoming College campus in Riverton.
