Riverton, Wyo. — Central Wyoming College Board of Trustees approved new protective covenants for the CWC Business Park during their meeting on January 15. Although the Board has always had the authority to sell lots, the creation of the covenants signals a greater receptivity and proactive approach. The original CWC Business Park was established around the same time as Central Wyoming College in 1966. There have been a couple of additions to it over the years. It lies directly east of and is directly contiguous to the main campus.
“Central Wyoming College’s Board determined at our January 15 meeting that it is prudent to have protective covenants apply to our business park to ensure that all current and future tenants’ property are protected and enhanced,” says President Brad Tyndall. “The approval of the new covenants does not mean that all of the lots are now for sale. It simply means that the Board will be able to consider such sales on a case-by-case basis.”
Tyndall explained that allowing some tenants to purchase the land under their buildings, with approval by the CWC Trustees and within the framework of the covenants, on a case-by-case basis will allow businesses to better access loans to expand and improve their businesses. “The college and the CWC Foundation are hoping the change will help expand economic development on the business park.”
The park consists of 27 lots that range in size from a 1/4 acre to several acres. There are currently 14 tenants in CWC’s Business Park, representing light manufacturing, healthcare, daycares, nonprofit organizations, and governmental entities. Lots have previously only been offered for long-term or short-term leases.
