Advocates for Lander Students
At Advocates for Lander Students, we know that public education is key to the success of our community. When students struggle, our community struggles. With your support, Advocates for Lander Students will be there to help families navigate district policies, procedures, curriculum, grading, special education, and more. We bring in experts to speak to the community from within our district, such as the district’s curriculum director and teachers, as well as experts from the Wyoming Education Association and more. Your donations will help us provide more information to families as they learn about grading practices, curriculum, parent and student rights, how to support teachers and staff, and what kinds of questions to ask during an IEP meeting. There is so much to know about public education and we are here to help everyone understand!
Mission
Advocates for Lander Students bridges the gap between families and the district, empowering parents and supporting staff to ensure every student in FCSD#1 is heard and supported.
Vision
We believe students do their best when families and educators have the right resources and clear communication. We work to raise awareness in the community about how education policies affect all students, pushing for changes that help meet their needs, and making sure underrepresented voices are heard. By sharing information, representing families, and building connections, we aim to create a district where every student, family, and educator has the support they need to succeed.

Almost Home Wyoming
Almost Home Wyoming is a nonprofit dedicated to housing the homeless in Lander. We are a completely voluntary group who receives applications from homeless people via our website, almosthomewyoming@gmail.com, phone, 307-332-6127 or visiting our partner, First Stop Help Center.
Our business model is simple: build a relationship with our clients and support them to become successful and independent. We help them find rentals in Lander, pay their deposit plus first month’s rent, and meet with them monthly. If they need extra help to get on their feet, we continue paying a graduated portion of their rent until they are sustainable for up to a year.
Alpine Science Institute
Help CWC Regenerative Food Systems Program and Student Farm through the Lander Community Foundation’s Challenge for Charities!
Growing Resilient People, Food, and Communities
Focusing on environmentally sound crop production practices, business skills, economic viability, and social responsibility, the Regenerative Food System Program and Student Farm at the CWC Alpine Science Institute help degree seeking students and community members gain the skills needed to grow their own produce. The ASI Farm also provides produce to the local community through the Farmer’s Market, Meadowlark Market and the Lander Care and Share Food Bank.
In the 2024 growing season, the ASI Farm harvested an estimated 5,000 pounds of produce, which was distributed through the community through sales at the Lander Valley Farmers Market, Meadowlark Market & Kitchen, and the Eat Wyoming Veggie Bag CSA. Additionally, 10 to 20% of this harvest was donated to area food banks, providing individuals facing food insecurity with fresh, nutrient-dense produce.
In addition to its food production efforts, the ASI Farm expanded its community outreach through a series of educational programs that engaged nearly 100 participants. These initiatives included interactive planting workshops for students in grades 3 through 8 as part of the STEM Summer Academy, along with seed-starting and no-till gardening classes for adults. This spring, they launched a comprehensive, season-long hands-on gardening series that guides participants through every stage of the growing process—from planning and preparation to harvesting, cooking, and preserving their produce.
The C4C funds will be used to help purchase the supplies, materials, and labor needed to repair and rebuild the hoop house at the Alpine Science Institute. Currently in need of significant repair and renovation, this hoop house is critical for the function for both academic and community education programs, as it is used to start all veggies and flowers at the beginning of each growing season. Hands-on learning is used to teach the students and community members how to seed plants, take care of the seedlings and start the whole growing process. Expanded community education offerings will further increase the use and demand of the hoop house. Any funding received would allow for the rebuilding of this very important piece of ASI’s farm related courses.
Funding for its reconstruction would allow CWC ASI to enhance the site’s visual and functional integrity, ensuring it aligns with CWC’s commitment to maintaining ASI as a premier educational and recreational space.
