Chancey thought about it for a split second then answered, “yep I think we’ve played in all 23” after we asked him if the band has played a show in every Wyoming county.
Chancey Williams and The Younger Brothers have become one of the state’s most popular bands, many would argue the most popular band right now.
The group will perform in Riverton Wednesday, July 31st at the Fremont County Fairgrounds inside the main stage. “We played a few years ago on the free stage” Williams told us on the County 10 Podcast. “This year, we’re excited to play the main stage.”
The upgrade from the free stage to the main stage is a microcosm of the band’s success. Each year they gain a larger audience, play more shows, release more music. They’ve played with country legends, opened the country’s largest rodeos, have their own internet radio stations, and play sold out shows across the United States.
Despite the success, Chancey and the band members say their hometown of Moorcroft, Wyoming, population 1,000, is still their favorite place to be. “We think our music fits the Wyoming lifestyle, we love going to Vegas and California and other places to play, but it’s always fun to be in our home state,” Williams concluded.
Chancey discussed the Riverton show, what life on a tour bus is like, and the controversy behind one of their latest songs titled ‘The World Needs More Cowboys.’
