As New Year’s Eve approaches, the City of Lander reminds residents to celebrate responsibly by following safety guidelines and local regulations.
Fireworks Regulations
To help ensure a safe and enjoyable New Year’s Eve for everyone, fireworks are permitted within Lander city limits only from 4:30 PM on December 31, 2025, to 12:30 AM on January 1, 2026. Residents are asked to clean up all fireworks debris and to keep fireworks on private property.
Fireworks are prohibited in the following areas:
- Main Street
- City-owned properties, including the rodeo grounds, airport parking lot, City Park, other parks, Lander Golf Course, the cemetery, and any other city-owned land
- The area east of the Fremont County Detention Center, between Amoretti and Poor Farm Road
- School district parking lots or properties
Fremont County DUI Task Force
The Fremont County DUI Task Force will be on patrol throughout the holiday evening, focusing on impaired driving. Do not drive under the influence—it is never safe or acceptable to drink and drive. If you see a suspected impaired driver, report it immediately to law enforcement by calling 911. Remember, buzzed driving is drunk driving.

WRTA will be operating SafeRides on New Year’s Eve. Call (307) 856-9782 from 6 PM to midnight for a ride to or from a restaurant, grocery store, sporting event, or a friend’s house. Just call (307) 856-9782 to get a SafeRide in our community. It’s easy to use and helps keep everyone safe.
