The City of Lander will hold a Special Regular City Council meeting on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 6:00 PM at City Hall, to nominate and vote to fill in the vacancy of Mayor. This meeting will include a public comment period before the City Council votes on the Mayor’s nomination. Each individual commenter will be allotted up to 3 minutes to speak.
The City Council encourages the public to submit written comments in advance of the meeting, preferably by 5:00 PM on February 25, to ensure timely review. Comments can be submitted via email or dropped off at City Hall for placement in the Council members’ mailboxes.

The nomination and vote to fill the vacancy in the office of the Mayor follows City Ordinance 12-5-1 and WS 15-1-107. In accordance with the ordinance, the newly voted-in mayor will be required to resign their city council seat prior to taking the oath of office. Both the question of their resignation and the swearing-in of the new Mayor will be placed on the agenda for the next regular meeting, which is March 11, 2025. Upon acceptance of the Council seat resignation, the newly voted-in Mayor will immediately take the oath of office. The Council will then discuss the process and timeline to fill the vacant Council seat.
