A pair of Riverton wrestlers came home with third-place medals from the Class 4-A championships in Casper. Weston McLaughlin at 175 and Daniel Clawson at 285 both won bronze medals.
McLaughlin came within a point of the championship match with an 8-7 loss to eventual champion Keegan Rager of Sheridan in the semi-finals. He won by a major decision of Jim Coxbill of Laramie 11-1 in the third-place match.
McLaughlin opened the tournament leading Carl Booth of Central 14-0 before pinning him at 4:38. He had a major decision over Coxbill for the first time, 12-2, in the quarter finals. After dropping the match to Kager. He won by technical fall 17-2 over Riggin Austin of Laramie in the consolation semis.
Clawson pinned Josh Santiago of Gillette in 1:14 to open the tournament, then pinned Brady Hartman of Sheridan after leading 7-6 late in the third. He lost by major decision to Landon Smith of KW in the semi-finals, then won by major decision 11-1 over Sam Hill of Thunder Basin to reach the third-place match, winning by a 4-1 decision over Isaac Clay of Cheyenne East.
