(Riverton, WY) – The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Riverton confirmed that a cold air funnel cloud was seen west of Riverton Saturday morning.
NWS shared that weather conditions became favorable for the event due to, “the core of the passing weather system overhead, lots of “spin” in the middle atmosphere and very cold aloft, leading to robust cumulus updrafts.” Elaborating that these type of events usually don’t see the funnel make it to the ground.
Most of Fremont County will have a chance at thundershowers Saturday afternoon. Thundershowers and breezy conditions are expected Sunday. For the full NWS forecast, click here.
