(Riverton, WY) – With nearly two-thirds of the season gone, the Lady Wolverines played their first home game Saturday afternoon against the visiting Star Valley Lady Braves. Riverton fell 46-30 to the Lady Braves in West 4-A action.
Riverton struggled offensively against the Star Valley defense in the opening half after a promising start in the first period.
Riverton trailed just 16-10 a few seconds into the second period when their offense ground to a halt. They didn’t miss shots, they just didn’t get any. For almost seven minutes, Riverton worked the perimeter without getting a shot off. They forced the ball inside repeatedly, ending in turnovers without shots.
Aspen Gordon hit the only basket for the Lady Wolverines in the second period.
Riverton loosened up a bit in the final two periods, doubling their offensive output with a 20-point half and outscoring the Lady Braves in the final period.
Neither team had a player in double figures.
Seniors Taytem Tyra and Taelyn Leseberg paced Riverton with eight points each.
