(Lander, WY) – Communal Pancake Performing Arts is thrilled to present its upcoming production of Tiny Beautiful Things, a play based on the popular advice column Dear Sugar by Cheryl Strayed (author of Wild) and adapted for the stage by Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding). The performances will run from September 20, 21, 27, and 28 and October 4 and 5 at 7 p.m. at the Lander Art Center.
Tiny Beautiful Things invites audiences into the heart of the human experience through the lens of Strayed’s poignant and insightful advice column. The production, produced and directed by Susan Streater, promises to be a profoundly moving exploration of love, loss, and resilience, highlighting the transformative power of connection and vulnerability.
“The characters in this play speak for all of us,” said Streater. “They sit amongst the audience in an intimate theatre space. They ask tough questions and receive unexpected, thoughtful and enlightened answers. There are many moments in this play that are emotionally touching, humorous or inspiring.”
Tiny Beautiful Things is a beautiful exploration of how we find hope and healing through our shared humanity. The play is more than just a collection of stories; it is a deep and honest exploration of the human experience. It presents a space where life’s raw and unfiltered aspects are embraced and celebrated.

Tiny Beautiful Things comes with a content warning. It contains mature themes and explicit content that may not be suitable for all audiences. Viewers should be aware of strong language, sexual content, substance use, and mature themes of grief, trauma, and personal struggles.
The production utilizes a minimalist set design to highlight the play’s emotional connections and narratives. With its welcoming atmosphere and newly designed black box performance space, the Lander Art Center is ideal for engaging deeply with the audience.
“The Lander Art Center has been buzzing with upgrades to make our gallery a versatile space for performances,” said Laura Koch, LAC Board Member. “We’ve added a 25-foot-wide curtain for easy transitions between exhibitions and events, along with black ceiling tiles, extra seating, and a dressing room.”
Tiny Beautiful Things will be performed from September 20, 21, 27, and 28 to October 4 and 5 at 7 pm at the Lander Art Center. Seating is limited, and purchasing tickets in advance is encouraged. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students/seniors. Tickets can be purchased through the Communal Pancake online box office or at the door, subject to availability.
