(Pavillion, WY) – 2024 Class 1-A 9-man runner-up Lingle Ft. Laramie made the long trip from Goshen County to Pavillion Friday night and handed Wind River a 45-8 loss.
The loss drops the Cougars to 0-2 on the season.
Lingle moved the ball well with a balanced offense, building a 17-0 lead before the Cougars were able to answer in the second quarter.
Wind River mounted their best drive of the season late in the second period, a bruising 16-play 80-yard drive capped by a four-yard power run by Jeffrey Rushing. Holden Yeates added the conversion run and the Cougars made it interesting, trailing just 17-8.
That was as close as Wind River would come.
Lingle added an answering score, this one a 44-yard catch and run by Anthony Arnush from Brady Cook to lead 24-8 at the half.
The second half was all Doggers. Lingle scored on long drives, capped by mid-distance runs to pull away 45-8.
The Cougars travel to Carbon County to face the 2-0 Saratoga Panthers on Thursday.
