(Riveton, WY) – CWC men’s basketball team closed the book on their four week long mid-season break this past week, and kicked off the second half of the 2024-2025 season by opening to a new chapter on Saturday against Snow College. This was the Rustler’s last non-conference game before diving into Region IX competition, and although it was the third meeting between these teams this season, the Badgers had not yet made the trip to Riverton.
Central Wyoming harnessed every ounce of home-court advantage in the first half of the match and unleashed their fury from behind the arc, cashing in 7-of-9 three point attempts. This shooting performance kept the score close with a Snow College team that is Top 20 in the country in three point percentage (37.1%) and scoring per game (90.9 PPG). The Badger’s lead was only eight at the break, a stark difference from the previous 40 point halftime differential in each of the previous two meetings between these two teams.
Snow College went on to prove in the second half why they’re the No.1 ranked NJCAA division one team in the country. Even a career night from Julian Ormond, who dropped a team-high 19 points, couldn’t push the Rustlers to keep pace with Snow. Dominance on defense and pulling down rebounds on both ends guided the Badgers to a 92-59 victory over the Rustlers, and handed the CWC their 12th loss of the season.
