The Central Wyoming College men’s golf team tied for 3rd place at the NJCAA Division I West District Tournament, securing a spot at the NJCAA Division I National Championship.
The tournament was held in Loveland, Colorado on April 24-25.
Individual results across three rounds for CWC:
- Tyler Ewell finished 6th with a score of -3.
- Houston Dunn tied for 13th with a score of +6.
- Brodie Dale tied for 22nd with a score of +14.
- Brody Hamby tied for 26th with a score of +19.
- Brock Owings finished 28th with a score of +20.
The team’s performance at the West District Tournament earned them a place at the National championship tournament in Newton, Kansas, May 13-16.
Rodeo
The Central Wyoming College Rustlers had a strong showing at the Laramie River Rendezvous Rodeo, hosted by the University of Wyoming from April 25-27. The rodeo was the final regional competition of the season.
According to Coach Schrock, “To say I am proud of this team and their accomplishments is an understatement. They showed a lot of determination and poise throughout the season, making the best of the opportunity that was presented to them.”
Several CWC team members achieved notable results:
- Eian Smith placed 3rd in the average in Bareback Riding.
- Caden Gines and Jace Mayfield placed 3rd in the average in Team Roping.
Three CWC Rustlers have qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in June:
- Jace Mayfield was crowned the Central Rocky Mountain Region Men’s Champion All-Around Cowboy. He also placed 3rd in the region in Steer Wrestling and 3rd in the region in Team Roping.
- Caden Gines placed 3rd in the region in Team Roping.
- Brahmer Gaehring placed 3rd in the region in Bull Riding.
“Congratulations to Jace, Caden, and Brahmer,” said Coach Schrock. “We have a solid group that will be representing CWC at the CNFR in June.”
Volleyball
The CWC volleyball team wrapped up their 2025 spring season in Casper this past Saturday, where they faced Casper College and Laramie County Community College. The Rustlers won a set against each opponent, and Head Coach Kim Davis was able to utilize the end-of-the-year matches as experimentation of lineups in preparation for the fall 2025 season. After a two and a half month long summer break, Rustler Volleyball will return to preseason matches in mid-August 2025, with late September marking the beginning of NJCAA Region 9 play.
