(Riverton, WY) – The Central Wyoming College Rustlers women’s basketball team continued their mid-season momentum this week, securing two critical victories against regional rivals. Under the leadership of Head Coach Keith Wyatt, the Rustlers first dismantled Laramie County Community College at home before traveling to Torrington to grind out a tough road win against Eastern Wyoming College.

Rustlers Stifle LCCC in Dominant 69-43 Home Victory

On Wednesday, January 21, the Rustlers welcomed the Golden Eagles of Laramie County Community College to Rustler Gymnasium. CWC set the tone early, exploding for 23 points in the first quarter while holding LCCC to just 8.

The Rustlers’ defense was the story of the night, holding the Golden Eagles to a dismal 23.7% field goal percentage. Meanwhile, CWC’s offense found its rhythm, shooting 48.1% from the floor and an impressive 47.4% from behind the arc.

The Rustlers carried that momentum into Saturday, January 24, for a road clash against Eastern Wyoming College. Unlike Wednesday’s fast start, this contest was a defensive battle early on, with EWC leading 16-9 after the first frame.

CWC flipped the script in the second half, outscoring the Lancers 38-22 across the final two periods. The Rustlers’ ability to get to the free-throw line proved to be the difference maker, as they converted 19 of 28 attempts compared to EWC’s 13.

Despite the setbacks, the Rustlers showed resilience and strong individual performances under Head Coach Pat Rafferty.

Late Surge Not Enough as Rustlers Fall to LCCC at Home

On Wednesday, January 21, the Rustlers hosted the Golden Eagles of Laramie County Community College at Rustler Gym. LCCC took control early, leading 40-36 at the half, and managed to pull away in the second period to secure a 78-64 victory.

CWC struggled from the perimeter, shooting just 16.7% from three-point range. The Golden Eagles were led by a standout 37-point performance from TJ Coulter.
