(Riverton, WY) – Big things are happening with CWC Women’s Soccer, and we’re calling on the Riverton community to be part of it. With a record-breaking roster, deep Wyoming roots, and strong leadership in place, the 2025 fall season marks a major step forward for the program.
Head Coach Benjamin Nelson, one of the youngest head coaches in the NJCAA, has called Riverton home since 2020. A former CWC men’s soccer player, he helped lead the men’s team to its first-ever regional playoff appearance before becoming an assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s programs. He officially took over as head coach of the women’s team in spring 2025, making this his first full fall season leading the Rustlers.
“This is my home now. I’ve lived in Riverton nearly five years, my wife and I just bought a house here, and I’ve put my heart into this program. We’re building something special, and we want the entire community to be a part of it.”
Local Talent, Local Pride: Riverton’s Madi Fossey Joins the Rustlers
This fall, Riverton High School graduate Madi Fossey will suit up for the Rustlers as a freshman defensive midfielder—a meaningful addition to the team and the town. While not the first Riverton athlete to wear a CWC jersey, it’s a rare and important milestone for the program.
“It means a lot to have a Riverton native join this team,” said Coach Nelson. “Madi represents the work ethic, pride, and competitive spirit we want to be known for. Having her here is a huge step in strengthening the connection between the program and the community.”
Wyoming Talent Leading the Way
Madi will be joined by several other Wyoming standouts who will help anchor this year’s roster:
- Willow Aullman – Star Valley, WY | Sophomore | Defensive Midfielder | Team captain and vocal leader
- Kenna Merritt – Star Valley, WY | Freshman | Attacking Midfielder | High-motor playmaker
- Aubrey Moyer – Star Valley, WY | Former two-year player | Now serving as Team Manager while pursuing a nursing degree
Core Returners Bring Strength and Experience
The Rustlers also return several key players who bring high-level experience and leadership:
- Jersee Clapier – Layton, UT | Outside Back | 2024 All-Region selection
- Sienna Bodily – Roy, UT | Center Back | 2024 All-Region selection
- Ailsa Sheppard – United Kingdom | Attacking Midfielder
- Tasha Stenton – United Kingdom | Center Forward
Deep Community Roots
The team’s commitment to community engagement continues to grow. This past year, the players participated in Riverton Music and Dance Night, visited The Homestead for a karaoke social, and showed support at other campus and local events.
- Youth and High School ID Camps are scheduled for August 9!
- Free tryouts will be held on August 2 at 1 p.m. at Rustler Field for players interested in competing at the next level
Coaching Staff Invested in Riverton
Both assistant coaches live in Riverton, further deepening the team’s connection to the community:
- Kristen Paskett, Volunteer Assistant Coach – A longtime Riverton resident with deep coaching experience and strong local support
- Savannah Haskell, Assistant Coach – A former University of Wyoming player and returning CWC assistant
“We had the highest home attendance in Region 9 last year. That kind of support matters—and this season, we’re ready to raise the bar. We want Rustler Field packed and loud every game.”
Upcoming Camp at CWC – August 9 Coach Nelson will be hosting a Skills Camp and ID Camp at the Central Wyoming College Soccer Field on Friday, August 9, and invites all interested players, coaches, and families to attend:Skills Camp (Ages U6–U10): 9:00 AM – 10:30 AMSkills Camp (Ages U10–U14): 10:30 AM – 12:00 PMID Camp (Ages U14–U18): 1:00 PM – 3:00 PMThe ID Camp is a key recruiting opportunity, and Coach Nelson will be actively scouting talent throughout the session.
