(Riverton, WY) – David Mossburg, a retired Air Force officer and longtime business owner, has announced his candidacy for the Fremont County Board of Commissioners, District 1. Mossburg pledges to restore public trust in county government through the rule of law, promote fiscal accountability and transparency, renew Fremont County’s economy, and invest in and improve county infrastructure while safeguarding essential public services, including preserving the Fremont County Library System.

- Ensure fiscal responsibility and transparency by implementing rigorous budgeting practices and clear reporting to residents.
- Revitalize Fremont County’s economy by encouraging investment, supporting small businesses, and expanding workforce development opportunities.
- Maintain and improve county infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and critical facilities, to support safe and reliable services.
- Safeguard children by ensuring libraries and public schools provide age-appropriate materials, robust content safeguards, clear parental opt-out options, and strong oversight of curricular and library selections.
About the candidate:
David Mossburg grew up on a dairy farm in Indiana, learning hard work, responsibility, and doing the job right the first time. He served in the U.S. Air Force, including assignments in Saudi Arabia during the Iran-Iraq War and at a radar site in Iceland, and later joined the Wisconsin Air National Guard. He earned an economics degree (minor in business) from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and pursued further study with an MBA from Loyola University Chicago.
Throughout his career, David held leadership roles in manufacturing, accounting, and consulting, including time with Deloitte & Touche, where he supported Medicaid funding for Arizona school districts including Navajo and Apache tribal communities. After 9/11, he returned to active duty and later held senior intelligence and liaison positions, including at Langley AFB, the U.S. Embassy in Barbados, and the National Military Command Center at the Pentagon.
In 2005, he founded Discovery Solutions, a contract staffing company serving biotech and pharmaceutical clients. He retired from the Air Force in 2013 after 24 years of service and settled with his wife, Marta, in Riverton, Wyoming. They raised three children, Hank, Charlie, and Elsa, in an environment that valued service, family, and community. In 2021, the Mossburgs moved to Riverton to be closer to family and Wyoming’s natural beauty. They have home schooled their children for the last five years.
David believes his blend of military leadership, public-sector experience, and private-sector entrepreneurship uniquely prepares him to serve Fremont County as a fiscally responsible, growth-oriented County Commissioner. He is dedicated to rebuilding trust, strengthening our communities, and expanding opportunity for local families.
