(Gillette, WY) – Fremont County soccer teams went 3-1 in the quarterfinals Thursday from Gillette.
Lander’s girls had a thrilling overtime shootout with Worland. After a 1-1 regulation tie and scoreless overtime period, Lander prevailed 3-2 in a shootout, securing the win. The Lady Tigers move on to play Cody at 2:00 p.m. Friday for a chance to qualify for the championship game.
The Riverton ladies were also successful, knocking off Laramie in the opening round 3-2. Riverton held a 3-0 lead and survived a second-half scoring flurry from the Plainsmen. Riverton moves on to a 2:00 p.m. semi-final game against Jackson Friday.
Lander’s boys shutout Worland Thursday 2-0. They advance to the semi-finals where they’ll take on the top seed from the east, Buffalo at 4:00 p.m. Friday.
Riverton’s boys fell to Cheyenne Central Thursday 4-0. The loss forces Riverton to the consolation round where they’ll battle Thunder Basin on their home field at 11:00 a.m. Friday. If the Wolverines prevail, they earn the chance to play again Saturday against the winner of Campbell County and Rock Springs.
