Central Wyoming College invites you to explore the fascinating world of Plains Indian Sign Language (PISL), also known as Hand Talk. This traditional communication system transcended spoken languages across Native nations. This unique form of expression continues to be a powerful link to Indigenous identity, culture, and resilience.
Join us for a special series of Hand Talk events to experience how PISL:
- Bridges communication across diverse Native languages
- Enhances Indigenous language learning through action and movement
- Supports traditional teaching methods like master-apprentice, Montessori, and immersion learning
