Dozens of volunteers and community members turned out this week for an Earth Day Fort Washakie-area clean-up.
Volunteers collected enough trash Tuesday and Wednesday to fill two large dumpsters.
Many community groups volunteered time including children and staff with the Boys & Girls Club of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe and Fort Washakie Schools. The team at Blacks Hill Energy participated and donated 30 cases of water to the volunteers.
The Eastern Shoshone Tribe Facebook paged thanked the community members for their support and encouraged more clean-up events, “remember, cleaning up our community doesn’t have to be limited to one or two days per year. We encourage everyone to get out and beautify the Fort as the weather gets warmer and we prepare for the Eastern Shoshone Indian Days Powwow in June.”
