Entering its fourth year of presenting live classical music concerts for the people of Dubois and environs, Dubois Chamber Music announces the first of the season’s three concerts by the Trans Nebraska Players on Sunday, August 11, 2024. The concert will be held in the Upstairs Gallery at the Headwaters Events Center on 20 Stainaker Street, Dubois, at 3 p.m. There will be no charge to attend.
The theme of the concert is “Musical Calamities–A Performance Inquiring into Regrettable Events In The Lives of Composers.” One must attend the concert to find out what those calamities are.
In addition to the Sunday concert, the Players will offer a master class, “Discovering the Music in the Notes,” for amateur musicians on Saturday, 10 August at 2 p.m. in the Headwaters Arts Guild classroom off the Upstairs Gallery. Working with three pieces of music, to include the “Nimbus 2000” theme from the Harry Potter movies, the professionals will guide participants through the complexities of translating the silence of the page to the sounds of the instrument. Participants should bring their own instruments; printed music will be provided. This class is also free of charge.
Dubois Chamber Music will offer two more concerts this season. On Sunday, 8 September, the Helios Piano Trio will perform in the Sun Rooms of Headwaters at 3 p.m. And on Sunday, 29 September, Jackson Hole Chamber Music will perform at the Dennison Lodge on 909 W.
