2018 was sent off with frigid temperatures all around Wyoming.
Outdoor celebrations were canceled in many places, including one of the most-attended Wyoming events, the ball drop in downtown Cheyenne.
Despite the below zero temps, fireworks were seen well before, and well after midnight throughout Lander. Fireworks were legal in city limits until 12:30 a.m.
Riverton residents reported hearing and seeing fireworks throughout the evening as well, even though they weren’t legal in city limits.
Fremont County’s coldest spot New Year’s Eve was east-northeast Dubois, which reached a low of -29. Jeffrey City reported -23, and south Riverton reached -22.
The coldest spot in the state was the community of Bondurant, which reached -33.
