All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
(Lander, WY) – The arraignment hearings for Lorenzo Hopper and Amanda Phillips were held today, May 21, in Lander’s District Court, overseen by the Honorable Judge Jason Conder.
Tim Hancock represented the State at today’s hearings, with Clay Simpson acting as Defense for Hopper and Zachary Mahlum for Phillips.
Each defendant pled “not guilty” to the charges filed against them, which stemmed from a series of break-ins that occurred on April 21 at various businesses in Lander, and ultimately ended with a clerk being stabbed at a gas station located on the 100 block of Main Street.
For Hopper’s reported role, he now faces six charges total, including: attempted first-degree murder, aggravated burglary, two counts of aggravated assault and battery, interference with a peace officer, and theft (taking).
Phillips was ultimately charged with one count of accessory before the fact to burglary, one count of accessory after the fact to aggravated assault, and one count of fleeing or attempting to elude.
Jury trials were set for September 21 for each party. At this time, no plea agreements have been filed.
