Eats in the 10: Big Flavors and Bold Rolls at Bali Thai in Lander

Our latest stop on the “Eats in the 10” tour takes us to Main Street in Lander, where Bali Thai Kitchen is dishing out a flavorful fusion of Thai classics and inventive sushi rolls that had us reaching for the chopsticks—and the to-go boxes.

We started with the house-made spring rolls, served with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. “Super fresh and crunchy,” Scott noted. “Not mushy on the inside like some can be. Good consistency throughout.” Vince added, “My favorite thing about them is the size. A lot of places give you those huge, doughy rolls. These are just right.”

Then came the Pad Thai and the Masaman curry, and we weren’t ready for how generous the portions were. “Easily two or three meals,” Vince said. “Great leftovers.” The pad Thai was gluten-free and served with the bean sprouts on the side, “which gives you a different texture experience,” Scott joked. The curry? Not too spicy, a little sweet, packed with flavor, and loaded with chicken and cashews. “They’re not scrimping on the protein,” Vince pointed out.

But the real showstoppers? The Lander Roll and the Sinks Canyon Roll.

Let’s talk Lander Roll: spicy tuna, crab, and cream cheese inside, with seared steak, jalapeño, spicy mayo, and eel sauce on top. “It’s a fat roll of sushi,” Vince said, admiring the generous size. “It’s not overwhelmingly spicy—the heat hits you just right at the end.” Scott called the steak and jalapeño combo “a fresh finish you don’t expect.”

The Sinks Canyon Roll was stacked: tempura crab, jalapeño, steamed shrimp, and a cascade of toppings—salmon, tuna, avocado, eel sauce, wasabi mayo, and tobiko. “This is the best of both worlds,” said Vince. “You still get that sushi freshness, with just enough crunch from the tempura.” Beautifully plated and packed with flavor, both rolls are more than a meal.

Whether you’re there for noodles, curry, or sushi (or all three), one thing’s clear: you’re not leaving hungry. “Unless you have a huge appetite, you’re guaranteed to have leftovers,” Scott laughed.

From the first bite to the final roll, Bali Thai’s menu is perfect for trying something new, enjoying a familiar favorite, or introducing a friend to a new cuisine. And with gluten-free options and generous portion sizes, it’s a win for everyone at the table.
