Our team visits local restaurants to try their specialties, chat with the people behind the scenes, and share our experiences with you.
This week, we made the scenic drive to the Shoshone Rose Casino & Hotel, home of Deka-Guy Hee—a hidden gem nestled just outside of Lander. With stunning views, daily specials, and a menu packed with flavor, this spot is more than worth the drive.
What We Tried
We sampled a delicious spread, each dish offering something unique and unexpected:
Indian Taco The fry bread alone makes this dish a standout—fluffy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The Indian Taco has become a signature item and was even featured on the Food Network! Topped with seasoned beef, beans, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and served with salsa and sour cream, it’s no surprise this is the most popular item on the menu. “It’s the ultimate comfort food,” one of our team members said. “I can see why it’s a bestseller.”
Brisket Sandwich This sandwich impressed everyone at the table. Tender, smoky brisket served with fresh-cut fries and macaroni salad made for a plate that could easily hold its own at a BBQ joint. “I was surprised by how good this was—it tasted like it was smoked in-house,” said Amanda. “Super tender and perfectly seasoned.”
Rose Salad A refreshing option, this salad is both beautiful and satisfying. With a mix of greens, strawberries, blueberries, candied pecans, craisins, grilled chicken, and a raspberry vinaigrette, it’s ideal for a lighter bite that doesn’t skimp on flavor.
And yes—we saved room for dessert. The house-made cakes were a sweet surprise and the perfect ending to our meal. Whether you’re team confetti, carrot, or chocolate, each slice was moist, rich, and totally worth it.
